Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Process Engineer with a strong plant focus to join our dynamic team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This role is critical for optimizing existing chemical processes, ensuring efficient and safe plant operations, and contributing to the development and implementation of new technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, a passion for process improvement, and a commitment to safety and quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Monitor and troubleshoot plant operations, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Develop and update process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict system behavior and evaluate alternative process designs.
- Lead or participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and other safety reviews to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, maintenance, and quality control teams to support plant operations and project execution.
- Manage and execute capital projects related to process improvements, expansions, or new installations.
- Provide technical support and training to operations personnel.
- Implement and maintain process control strategies to ensure stable and optimal plant performance.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential risks.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 4+ years of experience in chemical process engineering within a manufacturing plant environment.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
- Experience with process control systems and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and implement practical solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the chemical industry (e.g., OSHA PSM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Experience in specialty chemicals, polymers, or agricultural chemicals manufacturing.
