Job Description
Join the dynamic team at UPS as a Dispatcher Assistant and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our logistics network. You will support our dispatch operations by assisting with route planning, communication with drivers, data entry, and resolving day-to-day operational issues. Key Responsibilities
- Assist dispatchers with daily route planning and adjustments based on operational needs and real-time conditions.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via radio, phone, or in-cab systems regarding schedules, deliveries, and pickups.
- Monitor driver progress and provide support to resolve any issues or delays encountered on routes.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and delivery confirmations.
- Prepare and distribute daily dispatch sheets, manifests, and other relevant documentation.
- Process delivery exceptions and escalate complex issues to senior dispatch personnel.
- Collaborate with other departments, including customer service and warehouse operations, to ensure seamless service.
- Learn and utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to optimize efficiency.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to challenges
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Prior experience in an administrative support role, especially in logistics or transportation
- Familiarity with dispatching software or GPS tracking systems
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks in the New Port Richey area
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish/English) is a plus
