Job Description

FedEx Ground is seeking motivated entrepreneurs to become Independent Contractors for package delivery services in the bustling Lincoln Park area of Chicago, IL. This is a unique opportunity to own and operate your own business, managing your routes, drivers, and resources while benefiting from the strength and support of the FedEx Ground network. As an Independent Contractor, you will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient pickup and delivery services within a designated service area. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit, eager to build a profitable and sustainable operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage an independent delivery business, including all aspects of daily operations, fleet management, and personnel.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of drivers to ensure efficient and timely package pickup and delivery services.
- Maintain high standards of safety, service, and professionalism in accordance with FedEx Ground operational guidelines.
- Ensure all vehicles used for package delivery meet FedEx Ground specifications and are regularly maintained.
- Manage financial aspects of the business, including budgeting, expenses, and payroll.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with FedEx Ground personnel and customers.
- Optimize routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and meet delivery commitments.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and laws.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in business ownership or management, preferably in logistics or transportation.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage financial aspects of a business effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and customer service.
- Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate commercial vehicles and insurance.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background checks for all drivers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a fleet of delivery vehicles.
- Knowledge of the Lincoln Park, Chicago service area.
- Existing business entity (LLC, S-Corp, etc.) with Employer Identification Number (EIN).
