Job Description
AECOM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Chemist with a strong focus on Soil & Water Remediation to join our dynamic team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role involves applying advanced chemical principles to analyze, characterize, and develop remediation strategies for contaminated sites. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and compliance of environmental projects, working collaboratively with engineers, geologists, and project managers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with environmental sampling, laboratory analysis interpretation, and regulatory frameworks related to soil and groundwater contamination.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed chemical analysis of soil, water, and air samples to assess contamination levels and identify pollutants.
- Develop and implement effective remediation strategies for various environmental contaminants, focusing on soil and groundwater.
- Interpret complex analytical data and prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA).
- Oversee field sampling activities, including sample collection, preservation, and chain-of-custody protocols.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate chemical findings into broader environmental projects.
- Provide expert chemical consultation to clients and internal project teams.
- Stay current with emerging remediation technologies and environmental chemistry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or remediation projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in soil and groundwater sampling techniques and protocols.
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory methodologies.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex environmental data and writing technical reports.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, DEQ) pertinent to contamination and remediation.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Chemistry, Geochemistry, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., P.Chem, CHMM).
- Experience with GIS software for data visualization and analysis.
- Knowledge of advanced remediation technologies (e.g., in-situ chemical oxidation, bioremediation).
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
