Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Student Affairs Director to lead our student support services, with a particular focus on enhancing the international student experience. This critical role involves overseeing student welfare, activities, and compliance, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for all. The successful candidate will champion student success, advocate for student needs, and play a pivotal role in the strategic development of our student affairs department, especially for our diverse international cohort. Visa sponsorship is available for outstanding international candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for student affairs, aligning with the university's mission and goals.
  • Oversee the delivery of comprehensive student support services, including welfare, accommodation, career guidance, and disability services.
  • Lead and manage a team of student affairs professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies pertaining to student welfare, conduct, and international student visas.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance the student experience.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to optimize service delivery and student programs.
  • Advise university leadership on student issues and contribute to institutional policy development.
  • Develop and implement programs tailored to the needs of international students, including pre-arrival support and integration initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership experience in student affairs or a related field within higher education.
  • Strong understanding of student development theories and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with UK higher education regulations and international student visa processes.
  • Strategic planning and budget management expertise.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international student populations and understanding of their unique needs.
  • Membership in relevant professional associations (e.g., NASPA, ACPA, AMOSSHE).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for continuous improvement.
