Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented FedEx Dispatch Specialist to join our Corporate Logistics Team in Lubbock, TX. In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing daily dispatch operations for FedEx shipments, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. You will work closely with drivers, operations managers, and customer service to resolve issues, manage routes, and maintain high standards of service. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong geographical understanding, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily routes for FedEx drivers, optimizing for efficiency and timely deliveries.
- Monitor driver progress and provide real-time support, addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams regarding delivery status and service expectations.
- Utilize dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to manage and re-route shipments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery confirmations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems, escalating complex issues to management when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel on systems and procedures.
- Prepare daily and weekly dispatch reports for management review.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation management.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS tracking, and route optimization tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid geographical knowledge of Lubbock and surrounding areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with FedEx-specific dispatch systems or similar large-scale logistics platforms.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
