Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Aide with a strong medical support focus to join our team in Mesa, Arizona. This role is crucial for providing immediate medical assistance, supporting occupational health programs, and ensuring a safe working environment, particularly with protocols and standards aligned with refinery operations. Although located in Mesa, the role will involve understanding and applying best practices relevant to high-risk industrial settings, similar to those found in our refinery environments. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, compassionate, and highly organized professional capable of responding to medical emergencies and contributing to a proactive health and safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate first aid and basic medical care to employees and contractors for injuries and illnesses, adhering to established protocols.
- Assist in emergency response situations, including medical emergencies, hazmat incidents, and drills, acting as a primary responder.
- Conduct routine health screenings, vital sign checks, and basic physical assessments as required by occupational health programs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation of health and wellness initiatives, including health education, preventative care, and safety briefings.
- Administer over-the-counter medications and basic treatments under supervision or according to standing orders.
- Collaborate with site management, safety teams, and external medical professionals to ensure comprehensive employee health support.
- Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and the first aid station in an organized and ready state.
- Participate in incident investigations related to health and safety, providing medical perspective and documentation.
- Assist with drug and alcohol screening procedures as per company policy.
Required Skills
- EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification (NREMT or equivalent state certification).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency medical, industrial, or occupational health setting.
- Proficiency in administering first aid, wound care, and basic life support techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience in an oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.
- Occupational Health Assistant or Medical Assistant certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification.
