Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic medical team at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The successful candidate will provide expert anesthesia services across various surgical specialties, contributing significantly to patient safety and positive outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations and assessments of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized anesthetic plans for a diverse range of surgical procedures.
  • Administer various types of anesthesia (general, regional, local) safely and effectively.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgical procedures.
  • Manage and respond to medical emergencies and complications during anesthesia.
  • Provide post-operative care and pain management in collaboration with surgical teams.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education.
  • Educate and mentor residents and medical students as required.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a recognized Anesthesiology residency program.
  • Current or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
  • Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Anesthesiology, or equivalent international certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of anesthesiology practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in a subspecialty of anesthesiology (e.g., Cardiac, Pediatric, Regional).
  • Experience working in a tertiary care or regional hospital setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
  • Research experience or interest in academic contributions.
