Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Texture & Material Tagger with a focus on 3D design to join our art production team. In this role, you will be crucial in organizing and categorizing our extensive library of 3D textures and materials, ensuring they are accurately tagged, optimized, and readily accessible for our artists and designers. You will work closely with the asset management team and 3D artists to maintain consistency and efficiency within our asset pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundational understanding of 3D art principles and a meticulous approach to data management.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately tag and categorize 3D textures and materials according to established guidelines and taxonomies.
- Review existing assets for correct tagging, making adjustments and improvements as needed.
- Collaborate with 3D artists and leads to understand project requirements and asset usage.
- Ensure consistency in naming conventions, metadata, and asset descriptions.
- Assist in auditing and maintaining the studio's texture and material library.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in asset organization and tagging workflows.
- Contribute to the documentation of best practices for asset management.
- Perform basic quality checks on tagged assets to ensure they meet technical specifications.
Required Skills
- Foundational understanding of 3D asset creation pipelines and workflows.
- Familiarity with various texture maps (e.g., Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metallic, Ambient Occlusion).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using asset management software or databases.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and adhere to strict guidelines.
- Basic understanding of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) principles.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., spreadsheets).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D content creation software (e.g., Maya, Blender, 3ds Max).
- Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- A portfolio demonstrating an interest or basic experience in 3D art or asset management.
- Prior experience in a data entry, library science, or asset management role within a creative industry.
