Job Description
Are you a true cycle enthusiast with a knack for mechanics and a passion for exceptional customer service? MEC is looking for a dedicated Bicycle Maintenance & Valet to join our Montreal team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our bike shop, ensuring our members’ bicycles are in peak condition, from routine maintenance to complex repairs. You will also provide professional valet services, handling bikes with care and efficiency, and assisting members with their cycling needs. This position requires hands-on mechanical skills, a commitment to quality, and a friendly, supportive approach to member interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of bicycle maintenance tasks, including tune-ups, adjustments, and repairs on various bike types (road, mountain, hybrid, electric).
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and recommend appropriate solutions to members.
- Execute professional valet services, safely handling, storing, and retrieving members' bikes.
- Assist members with bike fittings, accessories, and general cycling advice.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Manage inventory of parts and tools, ensuring availability for repairs.
- Stay updated on the latest bicycle technology, components, and repair techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining repairs and maintenance in an understandable manner.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in bicycle maintenance and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid customer service and communication skills.
- Passion for cycling and outdoor activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized bicycle mechanic training program or certification (e.g., Barnett Bicycle Institute, UBI).
- Experience with electric bicycles (e-bikes) and their specific components.
- Familiarity with various bicycle brands and component manufacturers.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset for our Montreal location.
