Job Description
Are you a motivated 17-year-old looking for a challenging and rewarding summer job? Suffolk Construction is seeking energetic and eager Construction Laborers to join our team for the summer season in New Port Richey, FL. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry, learn valuable skills, and contribute to significant projects. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all our team members, especially those just starting their careers. No prior experience is required – just a strong work ethic and a desire to learn!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, including debris removal and material staging.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform general site preparation and cleanup duties.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Operate hand and power tools under direct supervision after proper training.
- Support site supervisors with basic logistical needs as directed.
- Attend and participate in daily safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Must be 17 years old by the start date of employment.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Punctual and reliable attendance.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all company safety policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school or equivalent education.
- Interest in pursuing a career in construction or skilled trades.
- Basic understanding of construction tools or processes (not required, but a plus).
- Valid state-issued identification.
