Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Agrochemical Chemist with a strong focus on fertilizer and crop science to join our dynamic R&D team in Fullerton, CA. In this role, you will be instrumental in the discovery, development, and optimization of novel fertilizer formulations and crop protection solutions. You will conduct laboratory and greenhouse experiments, analyze chemical compositions, and contribute to the understanding of nutrient delivery and plant interaction mechanisms. This position requires a passion for agricultural innovation and a commitment to scientific rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory and greenhouse experiments to develop and optimize fertilizer formulations and crop protection products.
- Conduct chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis spectroscopy).
- Investigate the chemical properties and mechanisms of action of agrochemicals and plant nutrients.
- Perform stability studies and evaluate the efficacy of new formulations under different environmental conditions.
- Collaborate with agronomists, plant scientists, and engineers to integrate chemical findings into broader agricultural solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory guidelines in all laboratory operations.
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and develop new analytical methods as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or academic chemistry lab, preferably with exposure to agrochemicals or agricultural science.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC-MS, and spectroscopy.
- Strong understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry principles relevant to agricultural applications.
- Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and scientific report writing.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Agrochemicals, or a related discipline.
- Direct experience with fertilizer formulation, crop nutrition, or pesticide chemistry.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for agrochemical products (e.g., EPA, FDA).
- Experience with statistical software for data analysis.
- Knowledge of plant physiology and soil science.
