Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse with a strong technical focus to join our dynamic team in Saint Paul, MN. This role requires an individual proficient in assisting with complex cardiac catheterization procedures, including diagnostic and interventional cases, device implantations, and electrophysiology studies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in patient assessment, monitoring during procedures, and post-procedure care, ensuring optimal outcomes. This position includes an on-call rotation, providing additional compensation for your commitment to patient care outside regular hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and performing physical assessments.
- Assist physicians during procedures by operating and monitoring specialized equipment, administering medications, and ensuring sterile technique.
- Monitor patient hemodynamics, EKG, and other physiological parameters throughout the procedure, promptly identifying and responding to changes.
- Provide comprehensive post-procedure care, including sheath removal, monitoring for complications, and patient education.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, procedures, and interventions.
- Ensure equipment readiness, troubleshoot technical issues, and manage inventory of supplies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to emergent cardiac cases as required.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including cardiologists, technologists, and other nursing staff.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in Minnesota
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Critical Care setting
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to operate complex medical equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification
- Experience with advanced interventional cardiology procedures (e.g., TAVR, Mitraclip)
- Prior experience with EP studies and device implantations
