Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals for roles within Education, Academia, and Social Work, with opportunities for visa sponsorship. These positions are designed for professionals eager to make a significant impact on student success and community well-being in underserved areas. As part of our team, you will contribute to creating a positive school culture, providing essential academic and social-emotional support to students, and collaborating with school staff and families. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the education and social services sector, supported by a comprehensive training and development program. Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group academic support in subjects such as math and literacy to students requiring additional assistance.
- Implement social-emotional learning interventions and positive behavior management strategies to foster a supportive classroom environment.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, school administrators, and parents to address student needs and progress.
- Organize and facilitate after-school programs, mentoring initiatives, and community engagement events.
- Develop and maintain case files or progress reports for students, documenting interventions and outcomes.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor, building strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions to enhance skills in education, youth development, and social work practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Demonstrated passion for youth development, education, and social justice.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, families, and school staff.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the unique needs of different communities.
- Commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality in social work and educational settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or community service.
- Familiarity with K-12 educational systems and challenges faced by urban youth.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or other languages prevalent in the Boston community.
- Experience with data collection and reporting for program evaluation.
