Job Description
Are you a connoisseur of exceptional culinary experiences with a keen eye for detail and an impeccable sense of discretion? Tavistock Restaurants is seeking a dedicated Fine Dining Evaluator to join our quality assurance team. This pivotal role involves anonymously assessing our high-end restaurants, ensuring they consistently meet our rigorous standards for food quality, service excellence, ambiance, and overall guest satisfaction. You will engage in ‘high-end gigs’ – experiencing our diverse portfolio as a regular patron, meticulously observing every aspect of the dining journey, and providing comprehensive, unbiased reports. A professional look and demeanor are essential, as you will represent the exacting standards of our brand through your discerning observations.
Key Responsibilities
- Anonymously visit assigned fine dining establishments as a regular guest, adhering strictly to a professional and discreet persona.
- Evaluate all aspects of the dining experience, including food presentation, taste, ingredient quality, menu accuracy, service efficiency and attentiveness, restaurant cleanliness, ambiance, and overall guest comfort.
- Complete detailed, objective evaluation reports within specified deadlines, providing constructive feedback and actionable insights.
- Identify areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all assignments, observations, and company proprietary information.
- Adhere to specific evaluation protocols and criteria established by Tavistock Restaurants.
- Stay current with industry trends, culinary innovations, and competitor offerings in the fine dining sector.
- Participate in calibration sessions and training as required to ensure consistency in evaluation standards.
Required Skills
- Exceptional palate and deep understanding of fine dining cuisine, ingredients, and culinary techniques.
- Superior observational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written communication skills for clear, concise, and objective report writing.
- Ability to maintain discretion and anonymity while evaluating.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex service interactions and operational flows.
- Proficiency in using digital reporting tools and platforms.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying restaurant hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fine dining (either front-of-house, back-of-house, or quality assurance).
- Certification in culinary arts or wine knowledge (e.g., Sommelier, Cicerone).
- Previous experience as a secret shopper, quality control specialist, or food critic in the luxury segment.
- Familiarity with various restaurant POS systems and operational software.
