Job Description
Are you a passionate aspiring game designer or developer with a keen interest in crafting compelling interactive experiences? Bethesda Softworks is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Game Design & Development Intern to join our team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This role is perfect for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic studio environment, contributing to various aspects of game creation, from concept ideation to implementation. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning the ropes of game design, level creation, scripting, and iterative development processes, all while contributing to projects that embody an “indie” spirit of innovation and player-centric design. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the conceptualization and documentation of game features, mechanics, and systems.
- Support designers in creating, iterating, and testing game levels and environments.
- Help implement game logic and mechanics using visual scripting tools or basic programming languages.
- Participate in playtesting sessions, gathering feedback, and contributing to design discussions.
- Research and analyze market trends, competitor games, and player feedback to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with art, programming, and QA teams to ensure a cohesive and high-quality game experience.
- Maintain and organize game design documents and assets.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for video games and a foundational understanding of game design principles.
- Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of scripting or programming logic.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to take feedback and iterate on designs.
- Portfolio demonstrating personal game projects, design documents, or relevant creative work (even if academic).
Preferred Qualifications
