Job Description

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Gaming Texture Annotator with a strong focus on graphic design to join our innovative art team in Wesley Chapel, FL. In this role, you will be crucial in refining the visual fidelity of our in-game assets by accurately annotating and preparing textures for various game environments, characters, and props. You will work closely with 3D artists and technical artists to ensure textures meet aesthetic standards and technical specifications, contributing directly to the immersive visual experience of our next-generation games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately annotate and categorize 2D texture maps for various game assets (e.g., PBR channels like Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metallic).
  • Perform quality assurance on annotated textures to ensure visual consistency and adherence to artistic direction.
  • Collaborate with 3D artists, concept artists, and art leads to understand specific texture requirements and stylistic goals.
  • Utilize graphic design principles to identify and rectify visual discrepancies in textures.
  • Maintain organized documentation of texture libraries and annotation guidelines.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of texture annotation workflows and tools.
  • Assist in creating and refining texture atlases and material setups.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows and texture maps.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for visual discrepancies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Basic understanding of 3D art pipelines and game asset creation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Game Art, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Experience with 3D texturing software (e.g., Substance Painter, Mari).
  • Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
  • Portfolio demonstrating graphic design skills or texture work.
  • Passion for video games and a strong understanding of current industry trends.
