Job Description
Are you passionate about data and eager to make a difference in the healthcare industry? Optum is seeking a Junior Healthcare Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for a motivated individual with a foundational understanding of data analysis principles and a strong desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment. You will be instrumental in extracting, analyzing, and interpreting complex healthcare data to support operational insights, strategic decision-making, and improved patient outcomes. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of healthcare data from various sources using SQL and other tools.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and integrity of datasets.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present key findings.
- Conduct basic statistical analysis on healthcare data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Document data processes, methodologies, and analytical results clearly and concisely.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance data analysis skills and healthcare industry knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Basic understanding of data visualization principles and tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics) or Healthcare Administration with a data focus.
- Prior internship or project experience in data analysis.
- Familiarity with healthcare data concepts (e.g., claims data, EMR/EHR systems, clinical data).
- Experience with a data visualization tool such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik Sense.
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python or R for data analysis.
