Job Description
Are you a highly motivated individual with exceptional physical strength and a can-do attitude? United Van Lines is looking for dedicated Heavy Item Shifters to join our dynamic team in Kitchener. If you’re ready to start immediately and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you! As a Heavy Item Shifter, you will be crucial to our moving and storage operations, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of our clients’ valuable possessions. This role requires significant physical stamina and a commitment to teamwork and customer satisfaction. We pride ourselves on providing top-tier moving services across Canada, and you will be an integral part of delivering on that promise.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload furniture, boxes, and other items onto and off moving trucks.
- Properly pack and unpack items, ensuring their protection during transit.
- Disassemble and reassemble furniture as required.
- Operate moving equipment such as dollies, hand trucks, and furniture pads.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the warehouse and on job sites.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated physical strength and stamina, capable of lifting and carrying heavy items (up to 75 lbs regularly).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools for furniture disassembly/assembly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in moving, logistics, or warehouse operations is an asset.
- A valid G-class driver's license is preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
