Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Remote Data Scientist with a strong focus on analytics to join our innovative team at IBM Canada. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking projects from the comfort of your home. You will be responsible for extracting insights from complex datasets, building predictive models, and developing data-driven solutions that directly influence strategic decisions and product development across various business units. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques, coupled with excellent communication skills to translate complex findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems.
- Perform extensive data exploration, cleaning, and preprocessing to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business value.
- Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define analytical problems and deliver robust solutions.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and automated analytical processes.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science practices and tools within the organization.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
- Extensive experience with machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series).
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and their application.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
- Ability to clearly articulate complex analytical findings to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Experience in A/B testing and experimental design.
- Knowledge of MLOps principles and practices.
- Prior experience working in a fully remote team environment.
