Job Description

Are you seeking a meaningful entry-level opportunity in healthcare with full training provided? Join CIUSSS de la Montérégie-Ouest as a Hospital Porter in Vaudreuil-Dorion! You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, equipment, and vital supplies throughout our facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds to and from various departments (e.g., admissions, operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, patient rooms).
  • Assist in the transfer of patients between beds, stretchers, and chairs, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Transport medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient charts between hospital units as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers) and designated storage areas.
  • Respond promptly to requests from nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and staff members.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Assist with basic patient mobility needs as directed by nursing staff.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing for extended periods, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.

  • First Aid and CPR certification (an asset).
