Job Description
Are you seeking a meaningful entry-level opportunity in healthcare with full training provided? Join CIUSSS de la Montérégie-Ouest as a Hospital Porter in Vaudreuil-Dorion! This full-time position is perfect for individuals eager to start a career in a dynamic hospital environment, playing a crucial role in patient care and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, equipment, and vital supplies throughout our facility. We offer comprehensive training to ensure you have all the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this essential role.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds to and from various departments (e.g., admissions, operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, patient rooms).
- Assist in the transfer of patients between beds, stretchers, and chairs, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Transport medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient charts between hospital units as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers) and designated storage areas.
- Respond promptly to requests from nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and staff members.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
- Assist with basic patient mobility needs as directed by nursing staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing for extended periods, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sense of empathy, patience, and compassion for patients.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently when necessary.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology (an asset, but not required).
- First Aid and CPR certification (an asset).
