Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inventory Control Clerk with a strong focus on cycle counting to join our distribution center team in Saint Paul, MN. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions. Your work will directly contribute to operational efficiency, reduced waste, and improved customer satisfaction by ensuring precise stock levels. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cycle counts of inventory in designated areas of the warehouse.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies (overages, shortages, misplacements) identified during cycle counts.
- Document all inventory adjustments and maintain accurate records of findings and resolutions.
- Collaborate with warehouse operations teams to identify root causes of inventory inaccuracies and implement preventive measures.
- Generate regular inventory reports and provide insights to management on inventory health and trends.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or forklifts, safely to access inventory locations (training provided if necessary).
- Assist with physical inventory audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with all company inventory control policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a similar role.
- Proven ability to perform accurate cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Experience with specific warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
- Prior experience in a high-volume distribution center environment.
