Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and linguistically proficient Machine Translation Verifier to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the quality and accuracy of machine-translated content. You will primarily focus on post-editing and reviewing machine output for various clients, ensuring it meets specific linguistic and cultural standards. This involves identifying and correcting errors in grammar, syntax, style, and terminology, as well as providing valuable feedback to improve the underlying machine translation engines. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere in Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform post-editing and quality assurance of machine-translated texts across various subject matters.
- Verify linguistic accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness of content.
- Identify and classify errors in grammar, syntax, style, terminology, and formatting.
- Apply client-specific guidelines and style guides consistently.
- Provide clear, concise, and actionable feedback on machine translation output to improve engine performance.
- Collaborate with project managers and linguistic teams to maintain high quality standards.
- Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in machine translation and natural language processing.
Required Skills
- Native-level proficiency in English and at least one other target language (e.g., German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, etc.).
- Exceptional understanding of linguistic nuances, grammar, and syntax in both source and target languages.
- Proven ability to identify and correct errors in translated content.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools (e.g., Trados, memoQ).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Translation, Philology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in translation, localization, or linguistic quality assurance.
- Familiarity with machine translation technologies and post-editing workflows.
- Experience working with various content types (e.g., technical, marketing, legal).
- Knowledge of multiple languages beyond native and English.
