Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Night Owl Linehaul Driver to join our team in Montgomery, Alabama. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced Class A CDL holders who thrive in overnight operations and are looking for a position with highly competitive night differential pay. As a crucial member of our linehaul network, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight between XPO terminals and designated locations during night hours. Punctuality, adherence to safety regulations, and a commitment to operational excellence are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer during night shifts, strictly adhering to all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned equipment, ensuring all components are in optimal working condition.
- Transport freight between XPO terminals and other specified locations according to established schedules and routes.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and complete all necessary paperwork and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations personnel regarding any delays, equipment issues, or route deviations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, maintain a clean driving record, and operate vehicles in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of freight as required, ensuring proper securement and handling procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to work consistent night shifts and adapt to varying weather conditions
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all transportation regulations
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with commercial driving, including coupling/uncoupling trailers, inspecting equipment, and climbing in/out of the cab
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Previous linehaul or long-haul driving experience
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software
