Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team for full-time day shifts at Ascension Saint Joseph – Joliet. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to our nursing staff and direct patient care, contributing significantly to the comfort and recovery of our patients. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Take and record vital signs, intake and output, and document observations accurately in the patient's chart.
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, ensuring patient comfort and infection control.
- Respond to patient calls promptly and courteously, addressing needs or relaying requests to nursing staff.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
- Report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or complaints to the nursing staff immediately.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Illinois.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a strong commitment to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in an acute care setting or long-term care facility.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
