Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with a strong focus on cloud migration to join our core infrastructure team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in planning, executing, and optimizing our migration strategies to modern cloud platforms. You will work on architecting scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions that support Pinterest’s massive user base and evolving product needs. This position requires deep expertise in cloud services, automation, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving complex challenges in a distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage robust and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions, primarily focusing on migration from on-premise to public cloud (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to streamline infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand application requirements and provide infrastructure solutions that meet performance, scalability, and security standards.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical infrastructure systems.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance our cloud infrastructure capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and regulatory requirements across all cloud deployments.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or SRE roles with a strong focus on cloud platforms.
- Proven experience with large-scale cloud migrations (on-premise to public cloud).
- Expertise in at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, distributed systems, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience with data center operations and network configuration.
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and caching technologies.
