Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Rehabilitation Music Aide to join our Physical Therapy Support team in Provo, UT. This ongoing position is vital in enhancing the rehabilitation experience for our patients by integrating music into their physical therapy sessions. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of how music can aid in motivation, rhythm, coordination, and mood regulation for individuals recovering from injury, illness, or surgery. You will work closely with licensed physical therapists to implement music-based interventions, prepare therapy environments, and provide direct support to patients during their rehabilitation journey. This role is perfect for someone passionate about music and dedicated to making a tangible difference in patients’ lives through a holistic approach to healing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in planning and executing music-based rehabilitation activities tailored to individual patient needs and therapy goals.
  • Prepare and set up therapy areas with appropriate musical instruments, audio equipment, and other necessary materials prior to sessions.
  • Engage patients during physical therapy exercises, using music to encourage participation, improve rhythm, coordination, and maintain motivation.
  • Monitor patient responses to music interventions and report observations to the physical therapist.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all musical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Provide empathetic support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
  • Document patient participation and any relevant observations as directed by the physical therapist.
  • Ensure patient safety during all activities and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in rehabilitation practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument (e.g., keyboard, guitar, percussion) or strong vocal ability.
  • Basic understanding of music theory and rhythm.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong empathy and patience when working with diverse patient populations.
  • Reliability and strong organizational skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., music, psychology, healthcare support).
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
