Job Description
Are you a compassionate individual looking to make a significant impact on weekends? BrightStar Care in Bakersfield is urgently seeking dedicated Respite Care Aides for casual weekend work. This is an immediate hire opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing supportive care to families in need of a temporary break from caregiving duties. As a Respite Care Aide, you will provide essential companionship, personal care, and assistance with daily living activities, allowing primary caregivers to rest and recharge. We value kindness, reliability, and a genuine desire to help others. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity for those new to caregiving or seeking flexible weekend hours. Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment as needed.
- Engage clients in stimulating activities, conversation, and light recreation.
- Assist with medication reminders as directed by the care plan.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks relevant to the client's immediate environment.
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals and assist with feeding.
- Observe and report any changes in the client's condition or behavior to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for clients.
Required Skills
- Proven empathy, compassion, and patience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions diligently.
- Basic understanding of personal hygiene and safety protocols.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be 18 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a caregiving role (personal or professional).
- Current CPR certification (First Aid preferred).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) program.
