Job Description
Join Salt River Project (SRP) as a SCADA Technician with a strong focus on remote monitoring. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems across our extensive utility infrastructure. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of our power and water systems through advanced remote monitoring techniques. You will work with cutting-edge technology to maintain system integrity, respond to alarms, and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and prevent downtime. Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, configuration, calibration, and maintenance of SCADA system components, including RTUs, PLCs, communication devices, and associated field instrumentation.
- Monitor SCADA systems remotely to identify anomalies, diagnose issues, and ensure optimal performance of electrical grid and water delivery infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to SCADA alarms and system alerts, executing necessary troubleshooting and corrective actions, often remotely, or coordinating on-site support.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and regular system checks to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to implement system upgrades, new installations, and integrate new technologies.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for SCADA system configurations, maintenance procedures, and incident reports.
- Provide technical support and training to operations personnel on SCADA system functionality and best practices.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in all aspects of SCADA system management.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency support as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SCADA systems (e.g., OSIsoft PI, GE iFIX, Rockwell FactoryTalk View)
- Strong understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system diagrams
- Experience with remote monitoring tools and techniques
- Solid understanding of network principles for industrial control systems
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various SRP facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ISA CCST, CompTIA Network+)
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems
- Familiarity with utility-specific SCADA applications (e.g., power distribution, water treatment)
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes and safety standards
