Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Solar Installation Supervisor to lead our installation teams in Rotherham and the surrounding South Yorkshire region. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on commercial and residential properties. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in solar installations, and a commitment to project deadlines and safety standards. The ‘CoS Provided’ tag indicates that we can support visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead teams of solar installers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Conduct site assessments and prepare for installations, including material logistics and equipment readiness.
- Oversee the installation of solar PV panels, inverters, racking systems, and associated electrical components.
- Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, electrical regulations, and company quality guidelines.
- Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during installation.
- Train and mentor junior installers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Manage project documentation, including daily reports, safety checklists, and completion records.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe working environment, conducting regular safety briefings and ensuring proper use of PPE.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven knowledge of solar PV system components, electrical wiring, and installation best practices.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations and electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671, MCS).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Health and Safety certification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in electrical trades, solar technology, or a related field.
- Experience with various racking systems and inverter technologies.
- First Aid certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Experience with energy storage solutions (battery systems).
