Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Stability Chemist to join our dedicated team, focusing on long-term projects with stable government support. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting stability studies for various chemical compounds and materials. This position is vital for ensuring the long-term integrity, safety, and efficacy of products developed for government applications, ranging from advanced materials to specialized chemical formulations. You will work within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Your expertise will directly contribute to projects that have a significant impact on national security, public health, and technological advancement, offering unparalleled stability and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive stability study protocols for a wide range of chemical substances and formulated products.
- Execute stability studies under various environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light) in accordance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, GLP).
- Perform analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and other relevant methods to evaluate product degradation and impurity profiles over time.
- Analyze and interpret complex stability data, identify trends, and accurately determine product shelf-life and retest periods.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders and government clients, ensuring clarity and scientific rigor.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation, performing routine maintenance and calibration to ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management teams to support project milestones.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (GLP, GMP, ISO) in all laboratory operations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, methods, and quality systems.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a stability testing laboratory, preferably within a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, chemical, government research).
- Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy (FTIR, UV-Vis).
- Strong understanding of chemical degradation pathways, kinetics, and forced degradation studies.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines for stability testing (e.g., ICH guidelines, GLP/GMP principles).
- Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and technical report writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with stability software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Proven experience working on government-funded or defense-related projects.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis techniques for stability data.
- Experience in method development and validation for stability-indicating assays.
- Project leadership or technical mentorship experience.
