Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sound Reinforcement Technician with a strong focus on house of worship environments to join our stable team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for audio excellence, a deep understanding of live sound systems, and a commitment to ensuring high-quality auditory experiences for religious services and events. This role involves setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex audio systems, with a particular emphasis on digital mixing consoles and wireless microphone systems. You will be instrumental in delivering clear, impactful sound in a dynamic worship setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and tear down sound systems for various worship services, events, and rehearsals.
  • Perform live audio mixing for spoken word, musical performances, and multimedia presentations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and calibration of audio equipment, including microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and loudspeakers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
  • Assist with the installation and integration of new audio-visual components as needed.
  • Provide training and support to volunteers or staff on the proper use of sound equipment.
  • Collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, and other technical staff to achieve desired audio outcomes.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of audio equipment and supplies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices for equipment handling and operation.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas, Allen & Heath).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, gain staging, and microphone techniques.
  • Experience with wireless microphone systems and in-ear monitoring systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio issues quickly under pressure.
  • Familiarity with various audio software and playback systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by worship schedules.
  • Physical ability to lift and move audio equipment (up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certification in Audio Production, Sound Engineering, or a related field.
  • Specific experience working in a house of worship environment.
  • Knowledge of network audio protocols (e.g., Dante, AVB).
  • Experience with lighting and video systems integration.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CTS, Dante Level 2).
