Job Description

Are you a customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills? U-Haul is looking for a dedicated Truck Rental Counter Agent to join our team in Garden Grove, CA. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, assisting them with their truck, trailer, and storage rental needs. You will process rental agreements, educate customers on equipment usage, and provide solutions to ensure a seamless moving experience. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a friendly demeanor, and a commitment to delivering outstanding service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their truck, trailer, and storage rental inquiries.
  • Process rental applications and agreements accurately and efficiently using our proprietary system.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections (pre and post-rental) and document any existing damage.
  • Educate customers on proper equipment operation, safety guidelines, and rental policies.
  • Handle customer payments, maintain accurate cash drawer reconciliation, and process returns.
  • Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and escalate complex problems to management when necessary.
  • Promote and sell additional services such as moving supplies, insurance, and storage units.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming counter area and showroom.
  • Assist with general store operations as needed, including stocking shelves and light cleaning.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail for processing rental agreements and conducting inspections.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as hooking up trailers.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or rental industry role.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle operation and safety.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
