Job Description
Join the dedicated team at UPS as a Linehaul Driver, operating our tractor-trailer equipment between various UPS facilities and customer locations. This critical role ensures the timely and safe transport of goods, directly contributing to our reputation for efficient and reliable service. We are specifically looking for motivated individuals for our night shift operations, offering a differential for these crucial hours. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailer equipment (doubles and triples may be required) over designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and traffic laws.
- Transport goods between UPS hubs, service centers, and designated customer locations.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, reporting any issues promptly.
- Complete and maintain accurate logs, reports, and other necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Work night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed, to meet operational demands.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) with required endorsements (doubles/triples endorsement is often required).
- Minimum of 24 months verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience within the last 3 years or 5 years within the last 10 years.
- Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) with no preventable accidents, moving violations, or serious traffic offenses.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking) to comprehend instructions and communicate effectively.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
- Previous experience in linehaul or long-haul trucking.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and route navigation software.
