Job Description
Are you looking for a rewarding part-time role where you can make a real difference in someone’s life? Rocky Mountain Human Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Weekend Disability Aide. In this vital role, you will provide essential support and companionship to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live more independently and engage with their community. This position offers meaningful work, flexible weekend hours, and the opportunity to become a valued member of a supportive care team. A successful DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required, ensuring a safe and trusted environment for those we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, as needed.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary guidelines are followed.
- Support individuals with mobility, transfers, and light exercises as directed.
- Engage individuals in recreational activities, hobbies, and community outings to promote social interaction and engagement.
- Assist with household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and organizing.
- Administer medication according to prescribed schedules and document accurately.
- Observe and report any changes in an individual's condition or behavior to the care supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
- Document care provided and maintain clear, accurate records.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
- Physical capability to assist with transfers and mobility (e.g., lifting up to 25 lbs).
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check (DBS).
- Reliable transportation for weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving, direct support, or healthcare setting.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and disability support best practices.
