Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Digital Map Verifier with exceptional local geography knowledge of the Staffordshire area to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying geographic data, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our digital maps. This position is critical for maintaining the high quality and reliability of Google Maps and related products. You will analyze satellite imagery, user-contributed data, and other sources to identify discrepancies, validate features, and make corrections as needed. This is a remote position, requiring strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify and validate geographic data points, including roads, businesses, points of interest, and natural features, using internal tools and resources.
  • Utilize extensive local knowledge of Stoke-on-Trent and the wider Staffordshire region to identify and correct inaccuracies in map data.
  • Analyze satellite imagery and street-level views to cross-reference and confirm map information.
  • Identify missing map features and proactively contribute to their inclusion.
  • Report systemic data issues and suggest improvements to verification processes.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality and accuracy, adhering to strict guidelines and deadlines.
  • Participate in training and calibration sessions to ensure consistent data verification practices.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional and demonstrable local geography knowledge of Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire region.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using web-based mapping applications and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in data entry, quality assurance, or map-related roles.
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) concepts.
  • Experience using Google Maps and other Google products.
  • Degree or coursework in Geography, Urban Planning, or a related field.
