Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior UI/UX Researcher for a student placement in our Edinburgh office. This is an incredible opportunity for a student eager to gain hands-on experience in user experience research within a world-leading technology company. You will work alongside experienced researchers, designers, and product managers, contributing to the understanding of user behaviors, needs, and motivations. This placement offers exposure to various research methodologies, data analysis, and the chance to influence product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing various UX research activities, including user interviews, usability testing, surveys, and ethnographic studies.
- Help analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify user behaviors, pain points, and opportunities.
- Support the creation of research artifacts such as user personas, journey maps, and research reports.
- Collaborate with senior researchers, designers, and product teams to translate research findings into actionable insights.
- Present research findings to project stakeholders clearly and concisely.
- Learn and apply best practices in ethical research and data privacy.
- Maintain organized research documentation and assets.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Design, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of UX research methodologies and principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in presentation tools (e.g., Google Slides, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R) or qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti).
- Familiarity with design thinking principles.
- Prior experience with research projects (academic or professional) involving user studies.
- A portfolio demonstrating interest or work in UX research or design.
