Job Description
Are you a proactive and physically fit individual looking for an immediate start in a dynamic outdoor retail environment? B&Q is seeking a dedicated Yard Assistant to join our team in Bradford. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to contribute to a bustling hardware store setting. As a Yard Assistant, you will be crucial in ensuring our outdoor retail areas are well-maintained, organised, and safe for both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with loading heavy and bulky items, ensuring safe handling practices.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the outdoor sales yard, including clearing pathways and managing waste.
- Receive, unload, and store incoming deliveries, checking for accuracy and damage.
- Replenish stock levels on the yard, ensuring products are displayed safely and attractively.
- Operate manual handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., pallet trucks).
- Support the wider store team with general duties as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service, assisting with product locations and basic queries.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy items.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or yard environment.
