Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to lead our Professional Benefits team in Vallejo, CA. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations of pharmacy technicians involved in processing professional benefit claims, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all regulatory guidelines. The Team Lead will be responsible for providing guidance, training, and support to the team, managing workflows, and collaborating with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and benefit utilization. This position requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, professional benefit structures, and leadership capabilities to foster a productive and positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of pharmacy technicians responsible for professional benefits processing.
  • Oversee the intake, processing, and resolution of complex professional benefit claims and inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust staffing as needed to maintain service levels and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, benefit specialists, and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to professional benefit activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and develop best practices for benefit administration.
  • Handle escalated patient or provider inquiries with professionalism and expertise.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new benefit programs or system enhancements.

Required Skills

  • Current California Pharmacy Technician License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Extensive knowledge of professional pharmacy benefits and claims processing
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
  • Experience with Kaiser Permanente's systems and benefit structures
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification for process improvement
