Job Description
Mercy Medical Center is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transport Aides. This is a non-emergency role crucial to the smooth operation of our hospital, ensuring patients are safely and comfortably moved between departments for appointments, tests, and discharge. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with all necessary skills. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to and from various hospital departments (e.g., imaging, labs, surgery, patient rooms) and for discharge.
- Assist patients with transferring to and from transport equipment, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identification before transport and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, technicians, and other staff regarding patient status and transport needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper working order of transport equipment.
- Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor.
- Physical stamina to push, pull, lift, and stand for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and safety principles (training provided).
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained after hire).
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
