Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Center Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team at Henry Ford Health System in Midtown Detroit. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Accurately compound and package sterile and non-sterile medications.
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and patient education when appropriate.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Handle controlled substances according to strict protocols.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
- Current Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with pharmacy management systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or medical center setting.
- Experience with automated dispensing cabinets (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
- Knowledge of sterile compounding techniques.
