Job Description
Join the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) as a Public Transit Bus Cleaner on our Night Shift team. This essential role is critical to maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation of our bus fleet, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our passengers and operational staff. You will be responsible for thorough cleaning and sanitation of bus interiors and exteriors, working diligently to uphold our high standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive interior cleaning of transit buses, including floors, seats, windows, and dashboards.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as handrails, stanchions, and grab handles using approved cleaning agents.
- Empty waste receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect driver compartments.
- Operate power washing equipment for exterior bus cleaning as needed.
- Replenish supplies such as hand sanitizer and air fresheners within the buses.
- Inspect buses for damage or maintenance issues and report findings to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete cleaning schedules efficiently during the night shift.
- Assist with other cleaning and maintenance duties within the depot as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively during night hours (e.g., 10 PM – 6 AM).
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning tasks.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to work with various cleaning chemicals safely.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines meticulously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial, cleaning, or sanitation roles, particularly in commercial or industrial settings.
- Experience operating cleaning equipment (e.g., power washers, floor scrubbers).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (Quebec) with a clean driving record, an asset for moving buses within the depot.
