Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Waste Management Driver to join our team in West Covina, CA. This crucial role involves operating specialized waste collection vehicles to service public sector contracts, including municipal routes and government facilities. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of various waste materials, contributing directly to the cleanliness and environmental health of the community. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a heavy-duty truck to collect and transport waste materials on designated routes, primarily serving public sector clients.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any issues or defects.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Navigate routes efficiently, demonstrating excellent driving skills and situational awareness.
- Interact professionally with the public and site personnel at collection points.
- Properly dump collected materials at designated disposal sites.
- Maintain accurate records, including route sheets, vehicle inspection reports, and service logs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle.
- Report any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage immediately to supervision.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an air brake endorsement.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in waste collection or a similar heavy vehicle operation.
- Clean driving record (no major infractions within the last 3 years).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating front-load, side-load, or rear-load waste collection vehicles.
- Knowledge of West Covina and surrounding Los Angeles County area routes.
- Previous experience working on public sector or municipal contracts.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
