Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our dynamic team. This role involves working within various community settings to assess health needs, provide health education, and implement public health interventions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of public health principles, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to serving diverse populations. This is an on-site position operating Monday through Friday, offering a stable and rewarding career path within a government agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments and screenings in community settings, clinics, and schools.
- Provide health education and counseling on topics such as disease prevention, nutrition, maternal and child health, and chronic disease management.
- Administer immunizations and other preventive health services.
- Monitor and investigate communicable diseases, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up.
- Develop and implement public health programs and initiatives tailored to community needs.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as needed.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health, community health, or a related clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of public health principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Public Health (MPH) or related advanced degree
- Experience with communicable disease investigation and control
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Certification in Public Health (CPH)
