Job Description

Join the Republic Services team as a Refuse Loader / Bin Collector in Spokane Valley, WA. This is a physically demanding yet rewarding role perfect for individuals who thrive on early starts and enjoy working outdoors. You’ll be a vital part of our waste management operations, ensuring efficient and safe collection of refuse from residential and commercial properties. Key Responsibilities

  • Manually load refuse, yard waste, and recycling from containers into the rear or side-loading refuse truck.
  • Operate packing mechanisms on the truck to compact collected materials.
  • Assist the driver with backing maneuvers, ensuring safety on route.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a two or three-person team to complete daily collection routes.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Report any service issues, hazards, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment within the vehicle and at transfer stations.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with customers and the public.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection equipment as required.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly (up to 75 lbs).
  • Excellent physical stamina and endurance for an active role.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality for early morning shifts.
  • Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Valid state driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role, general labor, or waste collection.
  • Familiarity with Spokane Valley routes or geographic area.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
