Job Description
Join Solotech as a Lighting Technician’s Mate specializing in climbing and rigging. This high-paying role is perfect for individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent physical condition, and a keen eye for safety, eager to contribute to large-scale live events. You will work alongside experienced Lighting Technicians, providing essential support in the setup, operation, and teardown of complex lighting systems, often at significant heights. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of entertainment production, with a focus on safe rigging practices and elevated work environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Lighting Technicians with the installation, focusing, and dismantling of lighting fixtures and related equipment.
- Perform rigging duties, including safe attachment of equipment to trusses, motors, and structures, under supervision.
- Work confidently and safely at heights, utilizing appropriate climbing and fall protection equipment.
- Load and unload trucks, organize equipment, and maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
- Conduct pre-show checks and basic maintenance of lighting equipment.
- Operate follow spots and other basic lighting controls as directed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and industry best practices for rigging and working at heights.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues under guidance.
- Provide general on-site support to the production team.

- Basic understanding of rigging principles and practices.
- Exceptional physical fitness and stamina.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event production, stagehand work, construction, or a related field involving manual labor or working at heights.
- Certification in fall protection, aerial lift operation, or basic rigging.
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety and wiring.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with various types of lighting equipment (moving lights, LED fixtures, control consoles).
