Job Description

Join Kaiser Permanente’s esteemed team as a Certified Nurse Midwife within our state-of-the-art birth center environment in San Jose, CA. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to women throughout their lifespan, with a primary focus on prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. You will empower women to make informed health decisions, offering support and education in a collaborative setting that values holistic wellness and evidence-based practice. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled professional dedicated to delivering exceptional care and contributing to positive birth experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full-scope midwifery care, including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecological, and newborn care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and manage patient cases in collaboration with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and families on various health topics, including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and women's health.
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions, collaborating with medical staff as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
  • Advocate for patients' preferences and ensure a supportive, empowering birth experience.

Required Skills

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Current Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification.
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program with a specialization in Nurse Midwifery.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a high-volume birth center or hospital setting.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
  • Leadership or mentorship experience.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
