Job Description

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Sheet Music Editor to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional eye for detail, a deep understanding of music theory and notation, and a proven track record of producing error-free sheet music. This role is critical to maintaining the high standard of quality that Musicnotes.com is known for. As a Sheet Music Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing, correcting, and preparing sheet music for publication on our platform, ensuring musical accuracy, readability, and adherence to style guidelines. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive proofreading and editing of sheet music to identify and correct errors in notation, rhythm, harmony, and layout.
  • Verify the accuracy of musical scores against original source material or recordings.
  • Ensure consistent application of house style guidelines for notation, formatting, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with transcribers, arrangers, and content managers to resolve discrepancies and improve content quality.
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with high-quality output.
  • Utilize specialized music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) for editing tasks.
  • Provide constructive feedback to transcribers and arrangers to enhance their output.
  • Stay updated on best practices in music engraving and digital sheet music publishing.

Required Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of music theory, harmony, and notation conventions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
  • Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music, Music Theory, Composition, or a related field.
  • Experience with various musical genres and instrumentations.
  • Familiarity with publishing workflows and digital content management systems.
  • Experience in an online music publishing or digital content creation environment.
