Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Sheet Music Editor to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional eye for detail, a deep understanding of music theory and notation, and a proven track record of producing error-free sheet music. This role is critical to maintaining the high standard of quality that Musicnotes.com is known for. As a Sheet Music Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing, correcting, and preparing sheet music for publication on our platform, ensuring musical accuracy, readability, and adherence to style guidelines. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive proofreading and editing of sheet music to identify and correct errors in notation, rhythm, harmony, and layout.
- Verify the accuracy of musical scores against original source material or recordings.
- Ensure consistent application of house style guidelines for notation, formatting, and presentation.
- Collaborate with transcribers, arrangers, and content managers to resolve discrepancies and improve content quality.
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with high-quality output.
- Utilize specialized music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) for editing tasks.
- Provide constructive feedback to transcribers and arrangers to enhance their output.
- Stay updated on best practices in music engraving and digital sheet music publishing.
Required Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of music theory, harmony, and notation conventions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
- Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music, Music Theory, Composition, or a related field.
