Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Podiatry Clinic Assistant to join our team in Chattanooga. In this vital clinical role, you will play a key part in supporting our podiatrists and providing exceptional care to our elderly patient population. This position involves direct patient interaction, administrative tasks, and assisting with various clinical procedures to ensure a smooth and comforting experience for those we serve. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies.
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, assisting with mobility as needed, especially for elderly patients.
- Take and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints accurately.
- Assist podiatrists with minor procedures, including wound care, nail care, and casting.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment according to established protocols.
- Provide patients with pre- and post-procedure instructions as directed by the podiatrist.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle incoming calls.
- Process insurance forms and manage patient billing inquiries.
- Ensure a warm, welcoming, and reassuring environment for all patients, particularly those with special needs or mobility challenges.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate demeanor towards elderly patients.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients with mobility for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Podiatric Medical Assistant (PMA) certification.
- Previous experience (6+ months) working in a podiatry clinic, geriatric care, or other healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- BLS/CPR certification.
