Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our dynamic hospital-based team. This critical role involves managing the care of acutely ill patients during night shifts, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ACNP will perform comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat complex medical conditions, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate treatment plans for patients within an inpatient setting. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to delivering exceptional care around the clock.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, diagnose acute and chronic illnesses, and develop individualized patient care plans.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests including laboratory, radiographic, and other procedures.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies according to established protocols and state regulations.
- Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice and clinical privileges.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatment plans.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education relevant to acute care.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as necessary during night shifts.
Required Skills
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ohio.
- Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Ohio.
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) by a nationally recognized certifying body.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ACNP in an acute care or hospital setting.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working night shifts in a hospital environment.
- Experience with Epic EMR system.
- Membership in professional organizations related to acute care nursing.
